You have been invited to Brooklyn, New York; the hometown of many legendary MC’s such as the Notorious B.I.G, Jay-Z, Talib Kweli, and Mos Def. This invitation is offering you the opportunity for an exclusive look into a next chapter in hip-hop to come out of Brooklyn by way of Hartford, Connecticut. That name is Mike Slim and with the name comes a refreshing air to a hip-hop community often plagued by violence, materialism, and misogyny. Heavily influenced by greats like Mos Def, Jay-Z, Kanye West and the late great TuPac Shakur, Mike Slim aspires to follow in those large footsteps in more ways than one. He says, "My dream is to become a mass appealing and influential artist for more than just the typical glitz and glam of it all." "It’s like becoming rich to in turn share that wealth".

After moving to the Bronx in the late nineties to pursue a higher education, he became obsessed with getting an extracurricular education in the art form of hip-hop. “I was in the hometown of hip-hop, so the transition came very naturally. All the elements of the culture were right there in my face, so I went from being a spectator on the outside looking in, to more of a participant” says Slim. While Mike Slim believed his talent would stand up to the best of them, his background remained unique to most rappers. Unfortunately its not common to find a brotha in hip hop with a college degree and limited tales of hustling to solidify his street cred. "I can definitely say I didn’t live a sheltered life growing up.” Slim says. "I think my upbringing gave me a more well rounded experience if anything because I was able to see both sides of the fence." Hopefully this rounded experience enables Mike to reach a versatile audience.

In his short career, Mike Slim has already completed a soon to be published children’s book, independently released a full length album and mixtape and led a hip-hip trio and band with polished performances all over the tri-state area. Ultimately Mike Slim has ended up in Brooklyn, home of the greats, where he plans to join those ranks through his positive and fresh approach to hip-hop. So be sure to R.S.V.P. to this invitation sent directly to you from Mike Slim to get acquainted with the story of a man with a love for hip-hop and a passion and confidence to believe he can help it grow. You are guaranteed to be able to feel his spirit through every line, every beat, and every track ... Everyone’s invited!
